Part-Time LSL Provider

JOB TITLE: LSL Provider REPORTS TO: MO Campus Coordinator

STATUS: Part-time (50%), 194 Contract Days LOCATION: MO Campus

Summary:

For nearly two centuries, St. Joseph Hearing + Speech has delivered exceptional listening and spoken language solutions for children with hearing loss, reflecting the charism of the Sisters of St Joseph of Carondelet.

The LSL Provider is an integral member of the faculty and school instructional team. Working under the direction of the MO Campus Coordinator, the LSL Provider will provide intervention to address individual toddler student progress in the areas of audition, speech, and language. This position follows the academic calendar with 194 contract days.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Demonstrates competency in the evaluation of student present levels in the areas of audition, speech, language, and pragmatic skills.

· Works collaboratively to assess students, develops annual goals for assigned students, and tracks monthly progress toward goals.

· Demonstrates knowledge of physical, cognitive, and linguistic variances in children with hearing loss who have accompanying learning challenges.

· Supports classroom team with duties as assigned including arrival, breakfast, and special activities and covers classroom duties as needed.

· Participates in team and staff meetings, following schedules assigned by supervisor and Executive Leadership.

· Maintains and ensures confidentiality of all student records including attendance, authorizations, student progress monitoring, and reports. Prepares IFSP reports and requirements per standards set by the department.

· Maintains an atmosphere conducive to learning, integrates audition into all therapy activities, and facilitates child-centered therapy sessions with enthusiasm.

· Actively participates in organization events, committee assignments, Open House, parent education nights, and other special activities when appropriate.

· Uses appropriate behavior management strategies for each child as set forth by St. Joseph policies and procedures.

· Upholds the professional, moral, and ethical standards of the school. Actively supports the mission and values of the school. Maintains professional demeanor.

· Maintains open communication with parents via parent coaching, observations, phone calls, and email correspondence. Educates parents about speech, auditory, and linguistic development.

· Completes daily hearing technology checks with students, collaborates with managing audiologists, and demonstrates knowledge of each student’s audiologic needs.

· Maintains professional standards (including applicable ASHA certification, residing state SLP license, teaching certification, MO First Steps enrollment, LSLS certification, etc.) through attendance in workshops, participation in appropriate professional development opportunities and reading professional literature.

· Provides mentorship and guidance to practicum students, student teachers, and/or volunteers. Completes appropriate documentation and evaluation on those assigned as mentees per guidelines set by St. Joseph.

· Performs other duties related to the program, including iHear teletherapy, as assigned.

Education, Training and/or Experience:

· Minimum of a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, Deaf Education, or related field

· Possess a SLP or teaching license and be eligible for certification in the state of Missouri, and appropriate Professional Boards.

· Must demonstrate a desire for ongoing professional development, including Listening and Spoken Language Specialist Certification.

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

$33-$53/hour, commensurate with experience
