Listen. Speak. Support.
Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) is a family-centered approach that supports the development of spoken language skills in children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
How Does LSL Work?
Children and adults who use LSL to communicate access sound through hearing technology, such as hearing aids and cochlear implants. With this technology, most children can access all the sounds of speech and learn to listen and talk on par with their typically hearing peers.
How Are LSL Outcomes Achieved?
St. Joseph uses a collaborative coaching model to support children with hearing loss. LSL providers partner with parents and caregivers to teach LSL strategies, tackle challenges, track progress, and create the best outcomes possible.
