Development Assistant

JOB TITLE:  Development Assistant         REPORTS TO:  Chief Development Officer

STATUS:  Part-Time, Non-Exempt            LOCATION:  MO Campus, On-site

Position Summary: For nearly two centuries, St Joseph Hearing + Speech has delivered exceptional listening and spoken language solutions for children with hearing loss, reflecting the charism of the Sisters of St Joseph of Carondelet (CSJs).

The Development Assistant plays a key role in supporting the fundraising and donor engagement efforts for the entire organization. This position provides administrative, database, and event support to help the organization build strong relationships with donors, secure philanthropic support, and grow community partnerships. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about advancing the mission of St. Joseph Hearing + Speech

Key Responsibilities for organization

1. Donor Management & Communications

· Maintain and regularly update the donor database (e.g., Raiser’s Edge).

· Process donations and prepare acknowledgment letters in a timely and accurate manner.

· Support donor stewardship activities, including mailings, thank-you calls, and impact updates.

· Assist in preparing donor reports, mailing lists, and campaign tracking tools.

· Track and schedule all due dates for grant applications and reports.

2. Fundraising & Campaign Support

· Assist in coordinating annual campaigns, giving days, and special appeals.

· Help draft, proofread, and distribute fundraising materials such as letters and emails.

· Track campaign performance and assist with post-campaign analysis and follow-up.

3. Event Coordination

· Provide administrative and on-site support for fundraising events (e.g., auctions, benefit dinners, and friend-raisers).

· Assist with event preparation, execution, and post-event follow-up.

4. Administrative Support

· Schedule meetings and manage calendars related to development activities and grant timelines.

· Maintain organized files and records for fundraising activities and donor correspondence.

Qualifications

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

· 1–2 years of experience in administrative support, development, or nonprofit work preferred.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with donor database systems (Raiser’s Edge/CRM) a plus.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.

· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

· Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for events.

Working Conditions

· Position will be onsite, with possible option for hybrid schedule after 90 days.

· Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. (for event support).
